We had a wonderful stay at Casa Esmeralda. Maria was a terrific host. The home is elegant, comfortable, spacious, and inviting. We were a family of four staying for five nights. The airbnb would also be a great fit for couples traveling together, since each room is in its own “zone,” so there’s a lot of privacy. The central area by the pool, under the shade of an orange tree, made the home feel like a true oasis. A/C and wifi worked great. All the amenities were top-notch (plus we really appreciated having access to a washer & dryer). The location is especially convenient if you plan to spend time at the bustling Mercado Municipal (Lucas Galvez), and it offers a chance to experience a truly everyday, lived-in part of the city rather than a polished tourist area. We had a great stay at Casa Esmeralda. The owners were very responsive and helped us with any little worry we had very quickly. Very kind people. Check in was a breeze with their exterior code locks. The home is basically new and well decorated, it was nice to have the pool and courtyard as our little oasis in the city. We found the location to be a good jumping off location to get places. And enjoyed coffee next-door at beautiful café in the hostel Escentrike. We also had a great dinner at Solon Gallos which is very close and super cool. The beds and bedding were very comfortable, air conditioners very cold, great fluffy towels, and kitchen well stocked with basics.
Truly enjoyed our stay in Merida! The house is spacious, comfortable and impeccably designed. We each had a very separate space with our own bathrooms and could still gather collectively. We also worked remotely for a few days of the trip and I can confirm that the internet is outstanding/ fully capable of hosting video calls. Will definitely think of this place when we plan our next trip to Merida!
Maria’s place is truly a gem! Love the layout of the property, great for couples where there are both common spaces for everyone to enjoy the company of each other as well as separate and private quarters. The pool is a nice value added but is moreso for cooling off as opposed to swimming. The linens, towels, and beds were so cozy. I would say it’s a 15 minute walk to the plaza grande and even closer to restaurant row (Calle 47). Maria was super responsive and I would definitely stay at her place again!

My family had a wonderful stay at Casa Esmeralda! Check-in was easy since the instructions were clear. The property, including the pool, were very clean. My husband and I enjoyed staying in the private apartment unit while my son and his friend shared the rest of the property. The pool and air conditioning was welcome during the hotter times of the day. The private apartment unit was so quiet that we didn't hear 2 thunderstorms that came through the area during our stay. The property was tastefully decorated and furnished. We didn't get a chance to use the Mayan soaking tub, but thought it was a nice feature. The neighborhood was safe and not far from the downtown area in Centro. We walked to most places, but sometimes used Uber to get around for a small fee. There's an OXXO within a couple blocks from the property which we visited daily. Close to a lot of stores and about 10-15 minute walk from popular eateries in Centro. We would definitely stay at Casa Esmeralda again!
The home was centrally located, making it easy to get around. All the appliances and AC worked perfectly, and we especially loved that one of the bedrooms had its own kitchen, private entrance, and bathroom — a great setup for extra comfort and privacy. Although we didn’t use the pool, it’s a fantastic amenity to have, especially for Mérida’s hot weather. Communication with Maria Fernanda was smooth and easy throughout our stay. Highly recommend!
Great place to stay — the house is truly beautiful, in true Mérida style; TVs and internet throughout the house and a lovely pool; they even left coffee capsules for that first coffee of the day. The house was spotless, with shampoo, liquid soap and conditioner in every bathroom; the air conditioners worked perfectly and the beds were super comfortable. Highly recommended.
